Arena Stage's multi-arts summer day camp seeks dynamic and creative instructors to teach hands-on filmmaking classes to ages 8 to 15 this summer. Instructor plans and teaches four exciting, daily filmmaking classes.

 Past class offerings include Movie Trailers, Experimental Film, Short Films, Newscast, Stop-Motion Animation, Documentary Shorts, To Be Continued...(serial drama) and Music Video.

 Instructor also participates fully in camp events and acts as a group leader to a small group of campers. Successful applicant is creative, has proven skills in engaging approaches in arts instruction, and has experience in energetically working with young people.

Camp Arena Stage Filmmaking Instructor Position Description

Plan and lead four arts classes (Dailies) each day, Monday through Friday. Activity periods are 50 minutes long.

Lead a one-time, 50-minute Choice activity each day. These "one-shots" do not have to be arts related and can be done in cooperation with another staff member.

Serve as a Group Leader for a small group of campers or assist with drop off/pick up or equivalent role at camp as assigned

Participate in a week of training prior to camp and one day of clean-up at the close of camp and attend weekly staff meetings.

 Participate fully in all camp events and activities, including the Noontime Show and Arts Extravaganza.

 Prepare lesson outlines, materials lists and class descriptions per the request of the camp director

 Maintain a safe, positive, nurturing environment for all at Camp Arena Stage

Qualifications: Instructors must be able to plan and teach their own curriculum. Most instructors have advanced degrees and/or professional credits and affiliations. However, exceptions may be made for promising new teaching artists or outstanding undergraduate applicants entering their senior year.

Time commitment: Seven weeks, full-time from June 15 August 1, 2020

Mondays-Fridays (one clean-up Saturday)

8:30 am-4:30 pm

Salary: competitive, based on experience
